Bio

With a love for travel, interest in other cultures and a desire to serve others - the Peace Corps simply just made sense. Years after first considering Peace Corps service, I finally completed an application in January 2011 to serve. Ten months later I received my invitation to serve as an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Specialist in the Small Enterprise Development program in Madagascar. My service begins at the end of February 2012 and marks this new season of life for the next 27 months. While I'm serving in an ICT role, I'm deeply hoping to receive a secondary project in health care, such as AIDS education. My passion is delivering health care to under-served populations and I hope to either pursue a Master's in Public Health or medical school upon completion of service.

My professional background:
I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in Marketing. I worked for a non-profit, trade association as a Communications & Marketing Specialist managing publications, public relations and their website/social marketing. Later I worked as a Graphic Designer for an institution of higher learning where I managed their website and designed presentation and marketing materials.

Who is Mary?
I am a complete dork (that's the most concise way of summing myself up). I love music, art, cooking, writing, attempting to learn acoustic guitar, the great outdoors and have a strong affection for spirituality. I'm hoping to metamorphosis over the next two years into a much improved version of myself through the ups and downs of PC service.
